Effy Stonem Style

Effy Stonem

Effy Stonem is by far the best dressed character on Skins. Her
ripped denim and Doc Martens are beautifully grunge and her
outfits match her daring yet distressed personality. If you don't
know who she is, just know that her style is noteworthy.

L's Pick #6 - Nude heels

Nude heels

Heiress Nude Heel - ASOS, £45

Nude heels are a wardrobe staple, yet I don't have a pair! I love these ones, as I love the ankle strap and mixture of fabrics in the shoes. They're also a great height, as at 5" they're not to high so that they're impossible to walk in, but are high enough to make me feel tall rather than small for once!

Nude heels help to elongate the legs, as they create the illusion that you are taller, and therefore have longer legs. These ones are quite pale, so I think they will go well with my skin tone as I am very pale also, and won't look odd against my skin like many nude colours do. Even though there is an ankle strap which can sometimes cut the leg off and make them look shorter, as they are nude I don't think they will have this effect. The strap will also help them stay on my feet, as I have very skinny ankles so struggle to keep some shoes on!

I think that they would be quite comfortable, because they have a slight platform to take away some of the height, and also have a lot of support at the back of the shoe so your foot won't slide  around, which will limit the amount of blisters and pain!

These shoes are just generally very versatile, and I was thinking about even wearing some like this if not these ones for prom, as they won't clash with my dress as they are such a neutral colour. They would also work with many other outfits, as they are quite simple and not overly dressy. I really want to add more shoes to my collection in general, as I hardly have any, especially heels!

Do you prefer heels or flats?

Valentines Day Outfit

Valentines Day Outfit

Valentines Day Outfit by lamey

Jumper - Topshop, £36
Skirt - Missguided, £18.99
Bag - ASOS, £22
Boots - H&M, £39.99
Necklace - Accessorize, £10
Lip Butter - Revlon, £7.99 ~ Macaroon
Eyeshadow - MAC, £17 ~ Sweet Heat

This outfit is perfect if you're spending Valentines day with your friends, or your significant other! The pink jumper adds a touch of girlyness and a slightly romantic feel, making it great for Valentines. The black leather skirt and boots add some edge to the look, contrasting with the pastel blue and pink in the jumper and bag. I love the scalloping detail on the bag, as I think it makes it look that much more unique and expensive. The necklace helps to dress up the look and adds interest to this simple outfit.

For make-up, I would suggest keeping it fresh and pretty, using a blush-pink colour on your lips and a pretty, metallic, shimmery colour on your lids. Add a generous coat of mascara to really make your eyes pop!

What are your plans for Valentines Day?

How to style: Red Jeans

How to style: Red jeans

I thought that these polka-dot red jeans were adorable, and perfect for autumn, so I decided to show you one way that you could style them to make them less dramatic, and more wearable!

The key idea when styling coloured jeans to be more wearable is to make sure
that all the other parts of your outfit are neutral or muted colours, as this
makes the jeans the focus of the outfit. You could also pair these jeans with
a plain white top and a big chunky beige, black, grey or navy cardigan for
another super cute outfit! I love the way that the pom-pom on the beanie
ties in with the colour of the jumper as this makes everything work well
together - so another tip when working with brights is try to use similar
coloured pieces for the rest of your outfit to pull the look together.

Summer into Autumn Style

Summer into Autumn

One of the most difficult times to style can be in between seasons, so above, I created an outfit on polyvore that I would wear between summer and autumn.
In the UK, it starts to get a lot colder, so I have started with this jumper from Topshop. When it gets even colder, instead of just using this peter pan collar, you could layer a whole shirt underneath for the same effect. The collar adds some interest to the look and keeps it from becoming too bland. I chose a jumper in a blush pink, as I think this colour works in all seasons!
I have paired the jumper with some burgundy skinny jeans, also from Topshop. The deep wine shade stops this outfit from being to summery, and also looks really nice next to the pale pink. Jeans are great, as they are not too thick so you won't over-heat, but they cover your legs, therefore offering some warmth.
For shoes, I chose these leopard print trainer shoes from H&M, as leopard print is going to be a huge trend this season, and like the collar, it adds some interest and fun too the outfit.
To finish it off, I found this brown backpack from New Look; it is very simple so it would go with many different outfits - you could even use it for school. As it is a warm brown it goes well with the shoes and helps to tie the whole outfit together!
