What I'm Spending Christmas Money On!

What I'm spending christmas money on!

This Christmas I was very kindly given some money, which I want to spend on the things above!

I'm not sure about which lipstick I would like however I definitely want it to be red! I have considered Topshop and Nars red lipsticks and also MAC's Russian Red. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any or recommend any:)

The curling tong is Enrapture's 'Encode Totem Styler Hair Tong''. This has been reduced to £39.98 in Boots. I like the fact that it splits into 3 sections and you can heat each section differently to create different types of curls.

I also would like to purchase an iTunes voucher to buy recent songs from The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, The xx and Cage the Elephant!

The jumper on the upper left is from Brandy Melville and after going into the shop and feeling the fabric, it was so soft - I can't not buy it!

The tartan scarf and shoes are just a basic idea of what I want to buy in the January sales.

Thanks for reading! -A x

Festive Outfit Idea

Festive outfit

If you want to look festive this Christmas season but don't want to go all out with
a Christmas jumper and Santa hat, something like this might work for you!
The sparkle on the top makes the look have a bit of glam and adds a
Christmassy feel, as does the skirt, which adds a pop of colour. The red is
what really makes this look festive, but the great thing about this outfit is that
all the pieces could be worn at times when it isn't Christmas. I love the jacket,
and I feel like the mixture of materials on it  makes it look a lot more expensive.
I especially like the sections of leather. Just add some black tights and maybe
a scarf and some gloves to this look and you're ready to go!

Crop Top - £28, Topshop
Ankle boots - £29.99, H&M
Bag - £7.99, H&M
High waisted Skirt - £10, New Look
Jacket - £49.99, New Look

5 Last Minute Christmas gifts

Christmas is only 4 days away, which is a nightmare for people who haven't done their Christmas shopping yet! So here are some last minute presents that you can either make yourself or easily get online!
  • Gingerbread is a Christmas classic that can be made quickly and easily I will link a recipe HERE that is quick and easy to follow. All you need to do is ice then, then wrap them in tinfoil or cellophane and then put them in a cute Christmassy bag or box!
  • Collect some pictures of you and the person you are giving the gift too, or pictures of them with other friends and family. Hole punch all the photos and then tie them together with some ribbon or string. You could even write little messages on the back of the photos.
  • If you really don't know what to get someone, get them a gift card! iTunes and Amazon ones are especially good for last minute as you can send them online through email, so if you don't have time to go and buy one, this means you will definitely have something for them in time for Christmas.
  • Another baking idea is to get a mason jar, or any other jar that you have cleaned out, and fill it with the dry ingredients for something you would think they'd like to make. This is a great gift for anyone who loves baking and will give them something fun to do on boxing day!
  • If it's a friend or sister that the gift is for, a great idea is friendship bracelets. All you need is string and a few beads, and there are plenty of amazing tutorials on youtube, which can make the bracelets look very impressive. This can be slightly time consuming, but I'm sure that they will be very much appreciated!
I hope that you found this post helpful, and remember that it's the thought that counts with many presents, so even if it's not an expensive gift, and you've made it yourself, it will mean a lot to whoever is receiving it! I personally love receiving homemade gifts, as I think that they really show that the person who made it cares, as they've obviously put time into making it for you.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, as school has been busy, but it's the Christmas holidays now, so look forward to a lot more content!<3

The Christmas Tag

It's only 16 days until Christmas, so now seems like the right time to this festive tag! Thank you so much to Abbie from The World of a Blond for tagging us - her blog's great, so you should all go and check her out!

1. What's your favourite Christmas movie?
I love Elf, but then again, who doesn't? If you haven't seen it, you really should, as it is just the sweetest, funniest Christmas film, and will really get you in the Christmas spirit! I also love The Greatest Store In the World, and Love Actually.

2. What's your favourite Christmas colour?
Probably gold, or silver - I love all the pretty sparkly colours that seem to be so prominent at Christmas!

3. Do you like to stay in your PJ's or dress up for Christmas?
I stay in my pyjamas in the morning, but then I'll put something slightly festive on, like a red top or a Christmassy jumper - not really dressy though.

4. If you could only buy one person a present this year who would it be?
I don't know! I would hate to be able to just get one person a present, as present buying is one of my favourite things, but I think I would just get everyone to share it!

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning! I probably would open them on Christmas eve if I was allowed as I get so excited and have practically no self control, but I just feel like if you opened them on Christmas Eve then Christmas day wouldn't seem as exciting!

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
I think I did when I was younger, with one of those kit's you can buy, but I would love to do it again as its such a fun and Christmassy thing to do.

7. What do you like to do on your Christmas Break?
I like to relax, and spend time with friends and family - I'm especially looking forward to it this year as I've just finished doing mock exams, and I just can't wait to have some down time to do things like going shopping, sleepovers and having family time.

8. Any Christmas Wishes?
I have a few, but mainly just that 2014 will be a good and happy year.

9. Favourite Christmas smell?
Christmas trees, or just the smell of spices and baking.

10. Christmas meal or treat?
Both? I love having Christmas dinner with crackers and all the food, but I also love Chocolate Oranges and quality streets and all the other little tasty things that seem to be a lot more prominent around Christmas!

So that's all the questions! I hope you enjoyed reading this tag! I'm going to tag Freya from Freya's Fashion Chapter and Liana from Dress Code Chic - go check their blogs out!<3

Christmas Gift Guide - £20 and Under

£20 and under Christmas Gift Guide!

£20 and under Christmas Gift Guide! by lamey

I love lush, and at Christmas their gift sets make an excellent present for anyone who loves having long, relaxing baths, or just things that smell good! In this particular bauble shaped gift, you get a 'Shoot for the Stars' bath bomb, a 'Star light Star bright' bath melt, and some Gold fun, which is a new-ish item in Lush. You can use it for many different things, and mold it into different shapes. I think this would make a great gift, and it's pre-wrapped, which can't be a bad thing. As it is bauble shaped and has a string attached to it, you could even hang it from your Christmas tree!

Benefit is another brand that I love - all of the products that I have tried from them have never failed to impress, and although it's quite pricey for a set of lip glosses, it would make a great gift! Anyone who loves makeup will definitely appreciate this, as it isn't something you would buy for yourself. You could even buy this and then divide the lip glosses up between your friends, if you wanted to give them a few little gifts!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Pallet - £20

The Urban decay Naked pallets are beautiful, but also very expensive, do a slightly cheaper alternative is the basics pallet. I would love to receive this as a gift, as it is so versatile, and could be used everyday, and even for a night time look. The majority of the colours are matte, which is a benefit, as it can be hard to find good quality matte eye shadows. This would be the perfect gift for any make-up loving girl, as it's such a talked about product, and everyone knows that Urban Decay products are great!

Topshop Fairisle Snood - £16
It's getting much colder now, and its a great time to buy someone something cozy - in this case, a snood! For me, snoods are so much better than scarfs, as they're so easy to just throw on, and will always look good and effortless. They will also keep you really warm and snug, and are great for on they go. I love this particular one, as the pattern and colours are so cute and the fact that the majority of it is an oatmeal-cream colour means it will go with pretty much anything, but the pink adds a pop of colour that is sometimes needed in a winter look.

Topshop Red Mittens - £14
Another way too keep warm is gloves, and I often find that my hands are what gets the coldest in the winter months. You can never go wrong with gloves, and they always seem to be getting lost, so a new pair can do no harm! The bright red colour of these adorable mittens really makes them stand out, and I love the chunky knit style, as it makes them seem so cozy! If you're not sure what to get someone, or it seems like they have everything, I would definitely recommend gloves.

Paperchase Portable Charger - £12.75
We all know someone who is constantly on their phone, but a lot of the time phones run out of charge; so why not get them a portable charger! This particular one goes with the iPhone 3, 4 and 4s, but I'm sure there are loads out there for all the other phones. For example, if you know that someone is getting the new iPhone for Christmas, you could get one of these for them as a little extra gift. This would be great for someone who's always on the go, as we all forget to charge our phones sometimes, which can be a disaster! I especially like this one as it has a little fox on the front, which is just an added bonus.

Lush 'Candy Box' Gift Set - £19.95
This Lush box looks a bit more like the conventional ones than the other, as its in a pretty box and tied with ribbon, so if that's what you were looking for, I would recommend this one! It includes 'Snow fairy' shower gel, 'Candy mountain' bubble bar, 'Rock star' soap and 'Popcorn' lip scrub. I have smelt all of these products and love them all - all have a very sweet, girly smell, like marshmallows, apart form 'Popcorn', which, of course, smells like popcorn. This is another great gift set, which anyone who likes sweet scents will love!

'Ghost' Perfume set - £19.20
Perfume is something that is very specific to a persons taste, but if you know which one they like, then something like this set is great. My sister loves this particular scent, and it does smell amazing! Perfume is something that gets used up, so buying them one that they have previously owned and loved is great. This one comes with a body lotion too, which means they can match their scents.

Soap and Glory 'Bubble Barreled' Set - £18
This is another bath set, but if lush isn't for you then Soap and Glory is the way forward. The scents are a bit less full on than the ones of lush, and you get a lot for your money in this set. You get lots of minis of popular items, which is good as it means you can try them before you buy a full size. This would make a fantastic gift as it gives them the opportunity to try lots of different products before committing to a full size. Also, if you know they love soap and glory products, then this would also suit them! You could also split the items in this up, like with the lip gloss set.

Urban Decay 'All Nighter' Setting spray - £19.50
The final idea is the famous urban decay setting spray. There are going to be lots of Christmas and New years parties coming up, and no one wants their make-up to slide off their face! I have personally never had the pleasure of trying this, but all reviews I've read have been amazing and positive, and as it is on the pricier side this would make a great gift, as it can seem like a bit of a splurge to buy for yourself!

Sorry this was so long, but I hope it was helpful! <3

Beauty Crimes We All Commit And Solutions

  1. Forgetting to wash our brushes. Everyday we use makeup brushes but if we don’t wash them regularly, the build up from the makeup and the dead skin cells make it more appealing to bacteria. This can cause more spots!
Fix this by washing any makeup brushes you use every couple of weeks at least. Baby shampoo is ideal to wash brushes with. Simply rinse them with warm water, rub the shampoo in gently and then rinse again thoroughly. It’s best to leave them on a towel overnight so they are dry by the next morning and ready to use!

  1. Not using heat protection. When curling, straightening or using a hairdryer without heat protection you’re damaging your hair.
To combat this, invest in a good heat protection spray. I use the TRESemme Heat Defense Spray.

  1. Using too much conditioner. Your hair can only absorb so much and using too much conditioner can make hair look lifeless.
Use around about a 50p sized blob for long hair and try to avoid the top of your head.

  1. Biting/Licking your lips. This ends up with your lips feeling drier than they did before.
Use a lip balm to heal your dry lips. I would recommend the Vaseline lip balms or the Carmex lip balms. If you fancy a bit of colour, Maybelline’s ‘Baby Lips’ Lip Balm has a range of colours to choose from whilst stopping lips from being dry.

  1. Sleeping with your makeup on. This clogs pores which triggers spots.
Always use a cleanser to remove makeup at night times but keep a pack of face wipes around, for different circumstances and emergencies.

Christmas gift guide - Gifts under £10

Christmas gift guide - stocking fillers!

Whether you're filling a stocking for someone, or are just wanting to give them a few little gifts instead of 1 big one, it can sometimes be hard to find things that are within a good and affordable budget. So, after doing some online shopping, I managed to find a few items that you could include, all of them being under £10! This would also be good if you are doing a secret Santa with a large group of people, and the price limit is quite low.

  • A great item to give someone is nail varnish - there are so many colours, and especially at Christmas, it's nice to have pretty, sparkly nails. I love the Topshop nail varnishes, and I found these two beautiful, festive colours; Rumours and lies, and Mardi Gras. They are £5 each, which considering the quality is a good deal! I also love the Barry M nail polish, which is even more affordable.
  • As it's Christmas, it's the one time of the year when you can get away with ridiculous Christmas themed clothing, such as those crazy Christmas jumpers that pop in all the shops, but if they're slightly out of your price range, cute Christmassy hats are great too! I love this reindeer and robin hats as they are so adorable and easier to get away with than a full on Christmas jumper. They are both from New Look, and are both only £7.99! These are also great as it is getting much colder, and they will keep your head nice and warm!
  • Speaking of keeping warm, another great gift is some cute gloves! These red and cream snowflake gloves have a hint of Christmas spirit, yet would still be acceptable for the rest of the cold months, and autumn too. These gloves are also from New Look and are £6.99, and look really cozy and warm!
  • Lush always sells amazing bath bombs, but at Christmas they go all out! The present shaped bath bomb, which is called Golden Wonder, is my favorite, as when put in the bath it turns into so many different colours, mainly blues, with glitter and all sorts! It would make an amazing gift, even on its own, as everyone likes to have a nice bath when it's cold outside. This bath bomb is only £3.50!
  • If you're buying for a make-up loving girl, it can be hard to get them something that is affordable, yet still of a high quality. Sleek is definitely a brand I would recommend, especially they eyeshadow pallets. I picked out the eyeshadow pallet in Au Natural, as I feel that the colours would work for everyone, and are gorgeous! The colours are very pigmented and blend-able, and it costs £7.
  • Another cute idea for a girly-girl is a hair accessory. Bows are always in, and these floral bows from New Look are adorable, and I'm sure they would be very appreciated. These are a great 'filler' gift, as they are not very expensive at £3.99 but are still stylish and show that you've put thought into the gift!
  • Many people get new phones for Christmas, so why not buy them a phone case too? This cute owl phone case is actually from Asda, and is only £7. As it is like a pouch, it will completely protect their phone, preventing them from smashing it or damaging it. It isn't something that you would really buy for yourself, which I think makes it an excellent gift, as they probably won't have one, and if they do, it won't be this pretty!
  • My final idea is Christmas themed underwear, such as these Christmas pug pants from Topshop, or Christmas socks, like these Christmas tree socks, also from Topshop. Everyone loves to have a little bit of festivity about them, even if no one else can see it! The pants are £4, and the socks are £3.50.

I hope you found this post helpful and got some ideas for affordable gifts!
Look forward to more Christmas gift guides coming soon!

Cozy Winter Outfit

Cozy Winter Outfit

Cozy Winter Outfit by lamey

As it is getting colder now, it's time to pull out all your favorite cozy pieces for the winter months. I am personally loving beanies, especially ones with a pompom on top! I'm also loving dark red or dark green jeans, as I think they just add a bit of colour into a normally plain outfit. Baggy, thick jumpers are a great way to transition any piece of clothing into autumn and winter, as they instantly add warmth and also look really cute!

Above is an outfit that I would definitely wear - if I could afford all the pieces! Just remember that there are always cheaper alternatives to items, so don't despair if you can't afford something that you really want! Click on the link below the outfit to go to our polyvore profile, to see other looks we've created.

Bobble hat from Topshop - £14
Cream jumper from Miss Selfridge - £24.50
Black boots from H&M - £24.99
Jeans from Topshop - £38
Coat from New Look - £49.99

Top 5 Autumn Make-up products

  1. Revlon lip butter in Raspberry pie - I love the dark lips trend, and I find that this lip product is the perfect shade for me. The pink undertones give it a strong berry tone, which I love, as it is one of my favorite autuminal colours. If you would like a full review on this lip butter, just click here!
  2. Maybelline colour tattoo in Pink Gold - This is a beautiful shimmery pink eyshadow base which I find really adds to any eyeshadow, and works especially well with other pink and burgundy shades, as well as bronzes and golds. It adds  a really pretty undertone if you want to use it as a base and helps to keep your eyshadow on all day! I also love wearing it on it's own for an easy eye look and it ties in really well with a dark lip colour.
  3. Natural collection blush in Peach Melba - This blush has a peachy undertone as the name would suggest, but on the skin it helps to add a really healthy glow, whilst looking natural. I like using more peach-toned blushes in autumn rather than pink toned ones like I do in spring, as I find the look warmer and cozier.
  4. Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow stick in Bad Bronze - This is another really pretty eyeshadow base, but this one is in a stick form. I like to use this without anything on top, or just with another bronze eyeshadow to set it for an easy autumn look. It blends really beautifully, and makes it look like you've spent a lot of time doing your eye makeup, when it can really be achieved in seconds. I also love this in the colour 'Bulletproof Beige' which is a shimmery beige colour with gold undertones. I like to use that colour on days when I have almost no time, as you don't need to blend very much as it is so neutral!
  5. Barry M Gelly nail paint in Blackberry - Dark nails is another prominent trend in autumn and winter, and I especially love this dark, purply-blue shade, as I think it can look really sophisticated on the nails. I also love the formulation of the gelly nail paints, as only 1-2 coats is needed and the finish is very glossy and shiny. I also find that it doesn't chip easily and will last on the nails for a while, especially if you use a top coat. Remember to use a base coat with dark colours though, as they may stain your nails.

October Favourites!

This month I have put together a few favourites to share with you all!

First up is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo spot cream. I first heard about the product through adverts on YouTube and also after Tanya Burr was talking about it on her channel. After researching the product a little further, I decided to give it a try and I now use the product every morning and evening of each day. It has cleared the ‘under-the-skin-spots’ and reduced the amount I have on the surface of my skin. I would definitely recommend the product, even though it’s priced at £13.00, I am going to be buying this again and again. It now plays an important role in both my morning skincare routine and my evening routine.

The second favourite for this month are my pair of red converse! They’re slightly darker, more a burgundy colour, and go with lots more in my wardrobe that I expected!

The next favourite for October is John Green’s book, The Fault In Our Stars. Although I am about half way through the book I have already immensely enjoyed reading it and have fallen in love with the character of Hazel.

Another favourite is the Lush lip scrub in the ‘popcorn’ flavour/scent. This works wonders on my dry lips, especially as winter is approaching fast. It also tastes and smells amazing and leaves my lips really smooth.

The final favourite is the film Inception. Although it was released in 2010, I still didn’t watch until this October. This film was absolutely amazing and I would definitely say it’s one of my favourite films yet.

Thanks for reading about my favourites, tell me your favourites in the comments below!

Autumn Hair Trends 2013

Autumn Hair Trends 2013

Autumn Hair Trends 2013 by lamey featuring Dolce & Gabbana

As you may have guessed from the title, here are some autumn hair trends to feast your eyes on! So if you fancy a change in hairstyle this autumn, here is some inspiration!

Slicked Back - One style that has been very popular in magazines and such this autumn is to have your hair slicked back. On the catwalk the model's hair always looks full of product and very greasy, which I personally dislike, however you can recreate this look without the 'greasy effect'. To do this, start with slightly damp hair. Using a comb, sweep back your hair from your the top of your head right down to the ends. If you like the 'wet look' secure with a wet-look gel by using the palms of your hands and placing on the sides and front of your head. Leave the ends of your hair to fall into place. If you don't want the wet-look you could use a hairspray instead. Celebrities that are well-known for sporting this look are Kim Kardashian with long hair, Carey Mulligan with her short hair and Emma Watson has been known to sport this look.

Relaxed Low Pony - Another look you can go for this autumn is the low ponytail. This looks good with medium to long hair lengths. Gather your hair at the back of you head and secure it with a hair band. Leaving a few strands of hair out to frame your face is optional. Also, gathering hair to one side, making it into a side ponytail, would look equally as good. Celebrities such as Adele, Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow have been seen wearing the trend.

Different Partings - This autumn a deep side parting and a middle parting have both seemed on trend. Why not try them both out and see which suits you best?

The Mini Beehive - The trend can be seen from the pictures above, where hair is swept into a 1960s styled beehive. Except this beehive is slightly lower, with a center parting at the front. To recreate this look, start with dry hair and comb it through. Create a middle parting. To get the 'pouf' you will need to backcomb. Gather a section of hair from the crown of your head and tease it with the comb. Repeat this until to have a small beehive. If you're unsure of how to create this volume check out this video by Tess Christine on Youtube. Separate the backcombed hair, which should be most of the front of the hair, and pin it with bobby pins at the back of your head. You can leave some front layers out to give the beehive a more relaxed feel. In the pictures, the rest of the hair is pinned up however leaving it down could look nice. Obviously Amy Winehouse was the queen of all beehives and Audrey Hepburn often went for a beehive.

Crimped Hair - Crimping your hair can look really good, especially on shorter hair. If it goes wrong, try putting your hair up in a ponytail or bun, have fun with it!

Fringes - A look that has increased its popularity this year, especially this autumn, is to have a fringe. When getting a fringe make sure it's right for your face shape as there are many different types. You could get a blunt fringe, a feathered fringe or a side fringe - it's best to ask your hairdresser what style would suit you. Nichole Richie is known for her fairly blunt fringe that frames her face perfectly while Emma Stone has a side swept fringe that suits her face shape perfectly. Zooey Deschanel also sports a blunt fringe and is the face of Pantene's Beautiful Lengths Campaign. Millie Mackintosh has recently got a feathered fringe which has caused some controversy.

What do you think about Millie's fringe? Comment Below!

How to style: Red Jeans

How to style: Red jeans

I thought that these polka-dot red jeans were adorable, and perfect for autumn, so I decided to show you one way that you could style them to make them less dramatic, and more wearable!

The key idea when styling coloured jeans to be more wearable is to make sure
that all the other parts of your outfit are neutral or muted colours, as this
makes the jeans the focus of the outfit. You could also pair these jeans with
a plain white top and a big chunky beige, black, grey or navy cardigan for
another super cute outfit! I love the way that the pom-pom on the beanie
ties in with the colour of the jumper as this makes everything work well
together - so another tip when working with brights is try to use similar
coloured pieces for the rest of your outfit to pull the look together.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Review

I recently purchased the Match Perfection foundation, and after having tried it for a few weeks, I decided to give you all my opinion about it! The first thing that I love about this foundation is that it goes light enough for my skin tone, which many affordable drugstore foundations don't. So, if you have an 'English rose' complexion like me and are having a hard time finding one light enough, try this in 010 Light Porcelain. I would say that the coverage is light, but it still does cover redness well. I love the finish, as it still looks like skin, and is ever so slightly dewy, but less so than other foundations such as Wake Me Up, which is also by Rimmel. I would say that it stays all day for me, but only if I set it with a powder. I don't have to touch it up, which is helpful, especially at school when you don't really have time! The consistency of the foundation is very liquid and runny, and because of this I prefer to apply it using a brush, such as the expert face brush from real techniques. I find that this specific brush also helps to give the foundation a much more natural but flawless finish, as it really helps to buff it into the skin. The foundation is also very affordable, and at £6.99, you can't really go wrong. I would definitely recommend this foundation, to anyone with any skin type, but if your skin is very oily I would recommend using a primer and a powder. If any of you have tried it, let me know what you think!

Carey Mulligan

I have recently watched An Education and fell in love with Carey Mulligan. Throughout the film she oozed elegance and taste when playing Jenny. I also loved her in the Great Gatsby where she pulled off Daisy fabulously and definitely had "a voice full of money" as described in the books. Here are some outfits from The Great Gatsby, An Education and Carey's personal style.

A new product that I got this month was the Le Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo. I had seen many YouTube beauty gurus rave about this product, such as Tanya Burr, and seeing as my skin had been breaking out more than normal, I wanted to give it a go! To make it even better, when I picked it up it was reduced! This has really helped to improve the overall appearance of my skin, and even though it's a little more expensive than I would usually pay at full price, I will still be repurchasing this product!

I have been loving two lip products this months - one rediscovery and one new. I rediscovered my Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie that I bought last autumn. I love the deep berry tone and think that it is just perfect for fall. If you would like a more in depth review of this, we already did a full post reviewing them, so just click here to read it! The other lip product I have been loving is the Maybelline Baby Lips, which just recently came out in the UK. I love the tinted ones and think that they are perfect for school as they add some colour but are not too OTT. I have also already done a review on these too, so click here to read that!

Fashion Favorites

Throughout the whole month I have been loving high-waisted skater skirts. They're just so flattering as they show off the slimmest part of your body; your waist. I love pairing them with baggy cropped tops or jumpers, as it is just a really simple and comfy outfit that I literally wear all the time...probably too often! They've been especially great this month as you can wear them with or without tights meaning that they work for both the warm and the cold weather. Another fashion item I have been loving is a bright red dress that I recently bought from H&M. I personally love wearing red, even though I have auburn hair, as I think it really suits me. I love this dress especially as it has a red lace back with I think sets it apart from other dresses that I have seen. It's a skater style and has short sleeves, and, on me, comes to about mid-thigh which is great as because I'm short I find it hard to find dresses that aren't too long!

Random Favorites

This month there have been two books that have really stood out for me - The Fault in our Stars by John Green, and The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon. The Fault in our Stars is an amazing book, which I'm not going to spoil, but is about a girl called Hazel with cancer. Just a warning - you will cry! But it's a beautiful book and is currently being turned into a film, so I would say now is a good time to read it! The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time is about a boy called Christopher, who has aspergers syndrome. He finds his neighbors dog dead and decides that he wants to find out who did it. However, this is only the start of the story and he finds out many other things along the way. This is an amazing book and the story goes a way that you would never expect it too. If you're looking for a good read, definitely try one of these books!
